Human writer and editor based in Berlin.

What I do:

I write texts of all shapes and sizes. That includes books, magazine features, ads, websites, newsletters, scripts, exhibition texts, and a thank you speech for an award the client didn’t end up winning.

I’m a firm believer that it’s not just what you say, but how you say it. I work with clients right from the beginning of the brand creation process to define what the brand sounds like and how it behaves.

Clients & Collaborators:

gestalten, DNCO, Winkreative, Hilton Hotels, SPACE10, Hyundai, Made Thought, Studio Koto, Design Studio, Shopify, Mozilla, Google, Design Hotels, Gousto, Parasol Island, Grohe, Audi, Zegna, Public Address, Pentagram, V&A Museum, Louvre Abu Dhabi, Courier Magazine, Semaine, enRoute Magazine, Avenue Road, Porter Airlines, Royal Bank of Canada, Postmedia, Genetec, etc.

The Backstory:

I studied at Canada’s top journalism school where hardened reporters drilled the importance of checking facts and cutting the fat from your copy. I’ve not forgotten these lessons.

Since then, I’ve worked on national ad campaigns and international titles. I’ve held full-time positions at Winkreative, dn&co and gestalten, and I’ve lived in Vancouver, Toronto, London and Berlin. I was the managing editor of Porter Airlines’ in-flight magazine, edited a book about Hyundai’s design chief and defined the tone of voice for the Louvre Abu Dhabi.

I am the author of two books: Otl Aicher’s Isny and Roberto’s Rio, both published by Place Press. The former is prefaced by Norman Foster and the latter was hailed by the Observer as one of the best architecture books of the year. Since working with gestalten, I’ve co-edited a dozen more books, which have been featured in the New Yorker, Dezeen, Architectural Digest, Arte, Creative Review, Wallpaper* and more.
